Art has always been a central and joyful part of my life. After graduating from USC, I practiced interior design for a few years before returning to Converse College and pursuing Art Education. I have been an art educator for 17 years but an artist for life. I have taught in traditional public schools for eleven years, Montessori Academy for six years, and The Spartanburg Charter School for two years. One thing I have learned is that the need for creative expression does not change even though the teaching method may differ. The visual arts provide an additional way for children to express themselves. Learning through the creative process is not only messy and fun; it is great for problem solving and making connections with ourselves, our community, and our past.
